I spent all of Saturday in San Francisco again, this time on a field trip with my collection design class. We spent the morning in Union Square, mostly admiring the entire 2nd and 3rd floors of Nieman Marcus; and the entire rest of the day we shopping for materials at fabric stores around the city. For some, this trip was just the beginning of putting their collections together, but as I already had my idea in place and most of my fabric purchased, for me it was about diversifying and completing what I already had going on. It is really exciting to be putting together a selection of garments I have been designing in my head for almost a year. The next step is the hardest: when I actually have to put hours of my life into this collection and sew complete 8 looks before the beginning of May. Passion takes life on wild rides.
